Visit the Mae Sa Elephant Sanctuary, formerly known as the Thai Elephant Care Center and renamed The Chang Chiang Mai in November 2019. The sanctuary is home to 14 elephants, learn about elephant conservation. Afterward, enjoy lunch at the Orchid Farm, located in the Mae Rim district, which is home to a cluster of four famous orchid and butterfly farms.  In the afternoon, visit Wat Suan Dok, also known as the Flower Garden Temple,  famous for its small white chedis that house the ashes of many members of the Chiang Mai Royal Family. Founded in 1371, the temple has a rich history linked to the legendary monk Sumana Thera, who brought a holy relic to Chiang Mai.  Next, explore Wat Phra Sing, home to Phra Phuttha Sihing, a Chiang Sean-style Buddha statue, enshrined in the beautifully crafted Vihan Lai Kham temple. During the Songkran festival in April, the statue is paraded around the town, where locals bath it with scented water for good luck.
